Preventing Crimes

The University Police have been awarded the Governor’s Crime Prevention Award annually since 1990. It is our belief that it is better to prevent and deter crimes rather than solve them after they occur. Available prevention services include

  • speakers for campus groups, including new student experience
  • brochures and pamphlets for distribution
  • publication of crimes and incidents in the campus newspaper
  • Operation Identification, through which engraving devices are loaned or an officer will assist in engraving one’s driver’s license on personal property.

操作ID

操作ID can prevent thefts, or in the case of theft, can assist in the recovery or stolen property. In addition to 操作ID, the University Police provides bicycle and property registration.

Blue Light Emergency Phones

Blue Light phones are placed at various locations on campus grounds. 教师, 工作人员, employees are advised that they are their own best protection by taking common sense security precautions.

Timely Reporting

The informed public is better prepared to ensure its own safety. Crimes and T2 alerts are reported to the “Bottom Line” newspaper on weekly basics.

Residence Halls

Residence halls remain locked 24 hours a day. All FSU residence halls have ID card-access readers and video security cameras at all exterior doors.

FSU尖端线

FSU尖端线: 301 - 687停止 (7867)

The Frostburg State University created a tip line for students, 工作人员 and members of the community to anonymously provide information about crimes, disturbances or other issues of concern.  举报热线, 301 - 687停止, (301-687-7867) was initiated by the students in the President's 领导 Circle.

Upon calling the tip line, the caller will listen to a recorded message for instructions and be directed to leave a message containing the information they wish to share.  Within  five (5) minutes of a recorded message it is automatically sent to FSU Central Communications to be routed immediately to the appropriate office. The messages are completely anonymous without numbers or names connected to them.
