Black History Month Opening Ceremony: A Celebration of Black History

In honor of Black History Month, the Office of DEI, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and the FSU Affiliate Branch of the Association for the Study of African American History and Literature will sponsor an Opening Ceremony for Black History Month on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 5:30 p.m. in Lane Manicur Hall.

Many on campus have not had the opportunity to sit in on the Introduction to African American History, taught by Robin Wynder each semester, so this will be an opportunity to share in some short vignettes about Black history and why we celebrate the month.

The program will include words of support, hope and inspiration by Acting President Al Delia, SGA President Racheal Michalski, BSA President Maddie Gregory, Provost Traki L. Taylor, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Jeff Graham, Assistant Vice President Robert Cooper, Chaplain Elijah Ferebee and student leader Kayla Donaldson. These speakers are sure to impress with words spoken from the heart and who will provide important knowledge about Black history. 

The Black History Month Opening Ceremony is just one of the Adams Wyche Multicultural Center's signature programs throughout the year. We hope you are encouraged to attend the start of the journey for information and celebration!

In addition, more programming will be held at the Center under the leadership of Gianni Jones, so be on the lookout for other activities aimed at celebrating all the multicultural aspects of FSU.
